Regimental badges are important symbols of identity, history, and honour. Even a small change in design can carry strong meaning and must be handled with great care. For this project, the client required a custom hand-embroidered crown badge with a specific design update. Accuracy, fine detail, and traditional craftsmanship were essential for this work.

The Requirement

The client contacted us with a request to update an existing crown design. He provided a reference image showing a Queen’s Crown and asked for it to be changed into a King’s Crown. This change was important to reflect the correct royal representation and maintain ceremonial accuracy.

The client wanted the new King’s Crown to remain traditional in style while showing clear visual differences from the Queen’s Crown. The badge needed to be rich in detail and suitable for formal and ceremonial use. Gold detailing, strong structure, and clean finishing were key expectations.

The client also required that the crown keep a balanced shape and correct proportions. The final badge needed to look elegant, strong, and clearly recognisable when worn or displayed.

The Solution

After reviewing the reference image, our design team carefully studied the differences between the Queen’s Crown and the King’s Crown. Special attention was given to the shape, height, arches, and detailing so the final design would be historically accurate.

Once the artwork was approved, production began using traditional hand embroidery techniques. High-quality gold bullion was used to create a rich and raised effect across the crown. Silver elements were added where required to enhance contrast and depth. Coloured details were carefully placed to match the traditional crown style.

Each section of the crown was embroidered by skilled craftsmen, ensuring clean stitching and strong structure. The badge was mounted on a suitable backing to provide durability and a professional finish.

Throughout the process, strict quality checks were carried out to ensure the crown looked balanced, refined, and true to the King’s Crown design.

The Result

The final embroidered King’s Crown badge fully met the client’s expectations. The change from the Queen’s Crown to the King’s Crown was clear and accurate. The badge looked elegant, detailed, and suitable for ceremonial use.

The client was very pleased with the quality of the embroidery and the attention given to detail. The finished badge reflected tradition, craftsmanship, and precision. This project once again demonstrated Hand Embroidery UK’s ability to deliver high-quality custom embroidery while respecting historical and ceremonial standards.
