The Drum Major’s Sash is a ceremonial item that carries great importance. It represents honour, leadership, and tradition within a regiment. For this project, the client required a fully customised Drum Major Sash belt that reflected his coat of arms and matched strict ceremonial standards. Accuracy, colour control, and fine hand embroidery were essential for this order.

The client approached us with a clear vision for his Drum Major Sash belt. He provided a detailed reference image showing the exact crest design and specific instructions on how the embroidery should be produced. The crest needed to be made in a fixed size to fit perfectly on the sash and flag belt. Colour accuracy was very important, especially the blue areas, which had to match the original crest exactly.
The client requested that all gold areas of the crest be produced using traditional gold bullion wire embroidery to give a rich and ceremonial appearance. Any grey elements in the reference design were to be converted into silver wire embroidery for a more refined and premium finish. The backing of the crest was required in black to create a strong contrast and improve visibility.
In addition to the sash, the client also required the coat of arms to be prepared as a complete set for the flag belt. He specifically asked for a flag holder to be fitted at the end of the belt so the flag could be properly set and displayed during ceremonial use. The overall requirement was for a traditional, clean, and professional finish that respected regimental standards.
After carefully reviewing the client’s reference image and instructions, our team worked closely with him to finalise the artwork, materials, and embroidery method. Once everything was approved, production began at Hand Embroidery UK using skilled craftsmen and traditional hand embroidery techniques.
Gold bullion was used to replace all gold areas, giving depth and shine to the design. Silver embroidery was used in place of grey to enhance clarity and elegance. The crest was mounted on a black backing to achieve the strong contrast requested by the client.
The coat of arms was produced as a matching set for the flag belt, maintaining the same embroidery quality and colour accuracy. A flag holder was securely added at the end of the belt, ensuring it was both functional and visually balanced. Each piece was carefully checked to ensure clean stitching, correct sizing, and a smooth overall finish.
The final Drum Major Sash belt and flag belt set fully met the client’s expectations. The embroidery was sharp, detailed, and true to the original crest design. The use of gold bullion and silver embroidery gave the sash a prestigious and ceremonial look, while the flag holder provided practical use during events.
The client was extremely pleased with the quality of workmanship, attention to detail, and professional service provided. The completed set reflected tradition, craftsmanship, and durability, making it suitable for long-term ceremonial use. This project once again demonstrated our ability to deliver high-quality, custom regimental embroidery with precision and care.
